From Evolution to Fame of Sports in India

The Evolution of Indian Sports:

India has a vibrant and thrilling history regarding sports. From ancient times to modern stadiums today, the history of Indian sports is one of passion, talent, and achievement. In this blog, we will guide you through the history of Indian sports and how sports academies..

Sports Conditions of Ancient India

Even before cricket and football gained popularity, there were numerous traditional games in India. Children used to play Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Mallakhamb, and Gilli-Danda in rural areas. These games required no advanced equipment and were upbeat and full of energy.

Most of these activities served to help children develop strength, concentration, and cooperation — all while out playing in the fields. In essence, they were the first iteration of summer sports or summer activities of which we are familiar today.

Sports in Educational Fields

With the passage of time, schools and colleges began putting emphasis on sports. Football, cricket, basketball, and athletics became a part of school life.

Sports days became the trend, and students were made to participate in competitions. Gradually, more emphasis was placed on sports coaching. This was the start of sports training centers and sports academies.

Nowadays, a few of the top sports schools in India assist young players in developing themselves with cricket coaching, football coaching, and even with activities such as skating and basketball.

Rise of  Sports

The game-changer for sports in India arrived when cricket became a national craze. Cricket became a household name after India won the 1983 Cricket World Cup. Ever since then, India has given birth to a number of cricket heroes.

Other sports also gained popularity with the passage of time. India’s national sport, hockey, also experienced phenomenal success. Introduction of the Indian Super League (ISL) gave a boost to football in India.

Competition such as Pro Kabaddi, Indian Premier League (IPL), and Hockey India League provided Indian players with more opportunities to excel and spectators with more to root for.

Revolution of Football

Football has always been a favorite in states such as West Bengal, Kerala, and Goa. But of late, football coaching academies and the ISL have taken the game to all corners of India.

Young people are enrolling themselves in football academies to learn the sport professionally.

Cricket: is Like A Religion in India

There is no questioning the fact that cricket rules India. The nation has witnessed some of the greatest cricketers in the world, such as Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli.

The coaching business for cricket has expanded with numerous children enrolling in cricket academies for training in professional games.

Other Popular Sports

Besides cricket and football, other popular sports such as basketball, skating, and hockey are also increasing.

Skating academies and basketball academies are becoming increasingly popular within urban areas. The sports are now included in school activities and children summer camps and are thus readily available to children.
